With Simon and Alison Churchfield we traveled to Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen Island in arctic Norway's Svalbard Archipelago. Once there:
On snowmobile: 135 km through Adventdalen, Sassendjorden, and Tempelfjord to the Tunabreen and Von Post Glaciers.
On skis:
The 2009 Svalbard Ski Marathon, a 42km (21km half-marathon) up Todalen
Valley.

Latitude 78°N, 800 miles from the North Pole, 500 miles
from northern Greenland.
